Antique Czech Oil Painting Virgin Mary St Joachim & St Anne European 18C

18th Century Czechoslovakian school oil painting on canvas of Saint Joachim, St. Anne and the Virgin Mary standing before cherubs under a great light that is cast from the sky. It's in good condition with a few restorations, one under the wing of the cherub on the right and another one on the bottom edge of the painting.

The iconography of the Virgin Mary with her parents, Saints Joachim and Anne, underwent a significant evolution during the 18th century, reflecting the changing religious and artistic sensibilities of the period. While the traditional depiction of the Holy Family remained popular, artists began to explore new ways of representing the Virgin's lineage, emphasizing her role as the Immaculate Conception and her connection to the divine.
