Description
3 Daoist Gods Lu Wealth Shou Longevity Fu Happiness Large Chinese Drawing
We present an exceptional and symbol-rich work of art: a large vertical pastel drawing that radiates warm tones of orange, brown, cream, and aquamarine on a dark blue background. This magnificent creation bears the distinctive red signature in the upper right corner. The artwork portrays three fundamental Daoist deities, each personifying essential aspects of life and prosperity.
Lu, the god of wealth, takes center stage in this composition, flanked by Shou, the god of longevity, on his left, who offers a peach to his companions, and Fu, the god of happiness, on his right. At the bottom of the composition, there are three child figures who serve as attendants to the deities. Each one is distinguished by the symbolic objects they carry: Fu's attendant holds a ruyi scepter, a symbol of good fortune and happiness, while Shou's attendant wields a spear and a seal, representing his official position and influence. The tallest of the three, an assistant to Lu, carries a piece of coral, a symbol of wealth and abundance.
In Chinese culture, the peach is considered a symbol of immortality and longevity. It is believed that consuming peaches or possessing images of peaches can bring good health and a long life. Shou carries the peach as a representation of his role as a protector of longevity and prosperity. This offering symbolizes the pursuit of a long and healthy life, adding an additional layer of meaning to this artistic work.
This pastel drawing is a visually striking expression and a reminder of Taoist beliefs in prosperity, longevity, and happiness. Each carefully represented detail in the artwork carries a wealth of cultural and symbolic meanings, making this piece a unique addition to any art collection.
