At the heart of the Centro de las Artes in Monterrey, Mexico, contemporary artist Eugenia Martinez invites us to join her in an introspective and reflective artistic experience with her solo exhibition “Tosa Juntas" (All Together). Through a series of 60 works encompassing painting, photography, textiles, and site-specific art, Martínez explores themes of female identity, memory, and the construction of personal history.
Martínez, renowned for her over 25-year career in the field of contemporary Mexican art, has developed a unique visual language that combines figurative and abstract elements. Her work is characterized by intertwining images with texts, creating narratives that challenge our perceptions and urge us to question inherited structures of oppression and power.
In "Todas Juntas," Martínez presents a collection of works that span different eras and techniques, reflecting themes of social critique such as classism, racism, gender issues, and feminism. The very title of the exhibition is a tribute to collectivity, a reminder of the strength that lies in unity to bring about significant changes in society. Each piece is an invitation to reflect on our own identities and the way we construct our personal history.
This exhibition is a unique opportunity to experience the work of one of the most talented artists in the contemporary Mexican scene. "Todas Juntas" will be on display at the Centro de las Artes de Monterrey until August 25, 2024.
