Description
It is a “visual” book that introduces us to the predominant sculptural art in the Federal District, through carefully selected photographs showcasing sculptures that exemplify the artistic treasure of sculpture in Mexico City between 1976 and 1982 (under the administration of Mexico City’s head of government, Carlos Hank González). Following an engaging introduction by the celebrated Andrés Henestrosa, the book presents a series of plates with high-resolution images of some of the main modern park sculptures in the Federal District, covering various artistic movements such as the so-called modernist “avant-garde,” sculptural classicism, as well as Indigenous influences in Mexican sculptural art in the Federal District.
The book also includes examples of pictorial art found in the serpentarium, created by painter Silvia Pardo on the interior walls of this facility dedicated to exhibiting snake species within the Chapultepec Zoo.
