Akar Escamilla

Akar Escamilla is a painter and creative director born in Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico. He began his artistic journey during the summer of 2019 at Parsons Paris University Prep Program in France. Following this, he pursued his passion for art and architecture at the Southern California Institute of Architecture in Los Angeles, California, USA, starting in the fall of 2020.
In addition to his formal education, Akar engaged in various extracurricular activities to further develop his leadership skills and community involvement. He participated in the Ivy Leader program at Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire, USA, during the falls of 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019. This program focused on SAT preparation, college readiness, and community service, which allowed Akar to gain a well-rounded foundation for his future endeavors.
During the fall and spring of 2017, Akar took up a leadership position at Dartmouth College, which was voted on by the student body, showcasing his natural ability to lead and inspire others. He also served as the International Student Coordinator during the summers of 2016 and 2018, engaging in community service at the Tshega Christian Mission in Hanover, New Hampshire, USA, and Makalaligame Reserve in Fobone, Limpopo, South Africa, respectively.
Akar's creative talents extended beyond painting to include various art forms such as concrete molding/casting, model making, acrylic, oil, and gesso painting, gesso sculpting, digital photography, and digital videography. His artistic versatility allowed him to express himself in multiple mediums, enriching his work with diverse perspectives.
Building on his passion for art, Akar founded Estudio Akar in the fall of 2017. As the Creative Director, he played a significant role in shaping the studio's artistic direction in Monterrey, Mexico. Additionally, he explored his interest in fashion design during the spring of 2019, founding and coordinating the KUFS Fashion Show Fundraiser in Meriden, New Hampshire, USA.
Throughout his artistic journey, Akar explored various avenues for creative expression. He pursued freelance photography in Mexico City, Mexico, collaborating with Andromeda Jewelry in the summer of 2020 and Archived Dreams Studio in the summer of 2021. Furthermore, he ventured into the field of film production as a freelance filmmaker for the TUVEMusic Band in Monterrey, Mexico, during the spring of 2021.
His artistic endeavors also led him to gain valuable experience as an architectural intern at Tatiana Bilao Estudio in Mexico City during the summer of 2021. Subsequently, he pursued an internship in marketing and public relations with Mesobis in Los Angeles, California, USA, during the summer of 2022, further broadening his horizons and skills.

Through his diverse experiences, Akar continues to inspire others with his unique artistic vision and dedication to the world of art and design.
