Óscar Martínez Olivera (born in Ciudad Ixtepec, Oaxaca, in 1951) is a renowned Mexican painter and printmaker whose work stands out for a distinctive fusion of geometric abstraction, Cubist synthesis, and a masterful use of transparency in watercolor. Trained at the prestigious National School of Painting, Sculpture and Printmaking "La Esmeralda" in Mexico City, his career consolidated a vibrant plastic language that captured the attention of the national art scene from the 1970s onward.
During his mature period in the 1970s and 1980s, Martínez Olivera was part of the vibrant gallery circuit of the Zona Rosa, exhibiting at emblematic venues such as the historic Galería Ponce.
